General Visa Regulations

• Canada International College – Dubai provides student visa through Dubai Knowledge Village for international students. The Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (TECOM) is the sponsor of foreign students enrolling at Knowledge Village (Dubai International Academic City) educational institutions/universities.

• Sponsorship is only available for students enrolled on a full-time basis in any program.  Procedures for sponsorship cannot commence until the enrollment has been completed and after the student has accepted an offer of a place and has paid in full.

• A student’s visa is normally valid for a period of 12 months.

• Under the current United Arab Emirates labor law students on university sponsored visas are not allowed to engage in any sort of paid work.

• It is advised that students should apply 30 – 40 days in advance before planning to come to Dubai to give an ample time for the new visa processing.  Student visa applications may have to undergo a security check by the Dubai government authorities. This may, at times, causes some delays which are outside the control of the university.

• Visa fees are beyond the control of the College and are subject to change. In case of an increase in the visa charges by the government authorities, the student will be liable to pay the additional visa charge(s).

• Visa fees once paid are non-refundable under any circumstances.

• Students will be responsible for all costs relating to processing a new visa if they wish to continue at Canada International College-Dubai.

Rejected Visa Applications

• Student visa applications are subject to approval by the Immigration Department.  The College cannot guarantee student visas. In case of rejection, tuition fees will be refunded according to CICD Refund Policy. The Visa Caution Fee will be refunded less any official processing charges already levied. Admission Fee is also non-refundable.

•  At the College’s discretion, the College may choose not to re-sponsor a student who has been excluded from other Colleges and Universities for academic or nonacademic reasons.

Cancellation of Visa
A student’s visa will be cancelled due to the following circumstances:

• Where the student wishes to terminate his/her studies prior to the expiry of the visa, the visa will be cancelled immediately and the student will be responsible for making arrangements to leave the country or seeking other sponsorship.

• All graduating students’ visas will be cancelled one month after the last day of examinations in the final session of study or one week before the visa expiry date.
• When a student does not maintain a full-time study status in a session, other than those who have been granted a leave of absence. As per TECOM policy, 3 consecutive absences are unacceptable. This will lead to the cancellation of his Visa and deposit will not be refunded.

Students are not allowed to take the semester off without notice and remain on the college sponsorship at the same time.

• Student’s deposit of Aed. 7,000 will be refunded once the original cancellation paper is handed over to the College (if the student has paid this guarantee amount to the college).
